Sodium Sulfite (Na₂ So₃) also refers to Sodium Sulfite is a soluble compound of sodium. Sodium Sulfite is a product of SO2 scrubbing, a part of the flue gas desulphurization process. It is used as a preservative to prevent dried fruit from discoloring and to preserve meat. Sodium sulfite is a white crystal powder or granule that tastes salty with sulphur odor. Sodium Sulphite is primarily used in pulp and paper industry. Used in water treatment as an oxygen scavenger agent. Also it is used in several other applications as ore flotation, oil recovery, food preservatives, boil treatment, iron exchange, fire, pesticide controller, in making dyes, detergents and in textile industries.

Copper sulfate has been used for control of algae in lakes and related fresh waters subject to eutrophication. It "remains the most effective algicidal treatment".

Bordeaux mixture, a suspension of copper sulfate (CuSO4) and calcium hydroxide (Ca(OH)2), is used to control fungus on grapes, melons, and other berries. It is produced by mixing a water solution of copper sulfate and a suspension of slaked lime.

A dilute solution of copper sulfate is used to treat aquarium fishes for parasitic infections, and is also used to remove snails from aquariums and zebra mussels from water pipes.Copper ions are highly toxic to fish. Most species of algae can be controlled with very low concentrations of copper sulfate.

 Potassium thiosulfate is commonly used as a fertilizer alone or with urea and/or urea ammonium nitrate due to its ability to delay nitrification. It thus has the ability to reduce the emission of nitrous oxide. It can also reduce the amount of fumigants being released from the soil.
